The Stencils Awards are based on the assumption that there is a fine line
between winners and losers in this industry, so it's vital that both are
recognized. The Stencil Awards are held yearly on or near April Fool's Day.
This year's event will be held on March 30 in San Francisco. The Stencils,
a mock awards banquet recognizing the best and worst the dot com world has
to offer, is the technology industry's last, best chance to take itself a
little less seriously.
Unlike other ceremonies, our awards will be delivered to those who are
likely to earn those awards in the coming year. Anyone can give an award
with a year's hindsight behind them. We like to think we have a strong sense
of what's to come. For that reason, we award those individuals who've done
little or nothing to earn their success yet.
Webster's defines humor as: "that quality which appeals to a sense of the
ludicrous or absurdly incongruous." If you are missing this quality, please
